In Bangladesh there are people that reside within the country that are so poor that they are willing participants in allowing their organs to be extracted so that they can obtain the funds necessary in order to just survive. However it does not just end there , the worst part does not end there : It is perhaps one of the worst examples of exploitation in history..
There are even cases wherein people of the country sold organs willfully only to not receive the money they had been promised because the government did not take the proper action to assure that the people were rightfully compensated .. Tough living conditions and little funds available will mean that there will be more people taking out loans , however those loans may actually turn into the reason that people end up selling their organs.
REPAYING NGO’s NOT for PROFIT?
There are even cases reported wherein it is being said that people are put in dire economic straits because they even have to pay back loans to NGO’s .. ? I thought that NGO’s were charitable organizations that relied on donations from the public so why couldn’t they just give them the money that they need instead of forcing them to pay it back? The crazy thing is it is considered that within the villages of Bangladesh they have their own set of rules wherein to do such a thing is considered an abomination as well as it is also considered breaking the law .
So now they have to suffer the effects of being shunned and considered outcasts by family members and community because the act itself is considered a travesty as well as an abomination, however this transcends well beyond just the social suffering as it seems like something from a crazy bygone era as it is quite barbaric and it is the technology and medical advances for right now that is in fact making this all possible.
There is extensive research as to how medical technology and the exploitation of the people intersect.. there was a market economy initiated wherein it was looked at very closely as to how a different form of bodily exploitation not unlike slavery and prostitution how the body parts from the people are being transferred to the wealthy few..
ILLEGAL TO SELL YOUR OWN ORGANS IN BANGLADESH
The one of the dilemmas facing the people of Bangladesh as well as places that operate in similar fashion to Bangladesh in that it will indeed exploit the people, is that you can suffer dire consequences of legality when selling organs as it is illegal not just for the broker whom buys the organs however also for the person selling the organs but the fact of the matter is that the broker usually gets off and the person left without his or her organs are usually the ones that suffer the heavy penalty as the contract that is made is already an illegal transaction therefore nothing within the contract or said agreement has to therefore be honored ..
ILLEGAL TO BUY YOUR OWN ORGANS
It is illegal to sell the organs it is also illegal to broker those deals however usually it is very easy because of conditions within the country to get away with such crimes because of the vast impoverished populace .. we have such very few ppl aware or helping in this pandemic and one such person is Professor Monir Moniruzzaman whom studied Anthropology in Michigan State University’s College of Social Science, was selected to join the World Health Organization’s Task Force on Donation and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues.
He uses his research as well as the atrocities he is exposing in that he pushes authorities not only in Bangladesh however ( Worldwide ) to put an end to this.. He is getting in from of gov agencies, human rights organizations and even the united nations however it appears and endless task .. as it is also a quite complicated one as well ..
